Brogmar Mossbeard, formerly known as Harry Dennison, is a dwarven druid and spiritual guide of The Heroes of Eastport. Born into immense wealth as a prominent socialite and merchant in Marterus, Felldrei, he underwent a profound personal and spiritual transformation after surviving the sinking of the family ship The Opulence in 1487 DR.
Early Life and Transformation
As Harry Dennison, he lived an indulgent, impulsive lifestyle, famously purchasing the Marterus Zoo only to let the animals run loose in the streets. Following the mysterious disappearance of the Opulence, Harry was shipwrecked on a lonely island in the Zendrian Sea for what he believed was five years, where the nature goddess Eldath preserved his life and reshaped his soul. A dream of his family in Marterus prompted him to leave and investigate their fate.
Renaming himself Brogmar Mossbeard, he embraced the druidic path, wearing simple leather armour caked in forest grime and a primitive antler headdress lashed to his head. He carries a magical sickle and wears pouches of mind-expanding mushrooms.
Druidic Philosophies
Brogmar advocates a philosophy of balance, blending the gentle, healing peace of Eldath with the wild, tooth-and-nail strength of Silvanus. His realizations of natural balance peaked on the blood-slick deck of The Stubborn Arse following a brutal merfolk ambush.
He frequently shares psychedelic mushroom teas with his companions to "open their eyes" to the vibrancy of the natural world, leading to several notable, colour-swirling group visions.
Return to Marterus
Brogmar returned to Marterus and revealed his former identity to the figure presented as King Edor Bren after an attack at the Scales of Garten. He was reunited with his sister Lithen and found his mother Jolene under an unexplained affliction in their impoverished Cloudcombe home. His father Urgin, long presumed dead aboard the Opulence, was later found alive near Eilor in the Fey.
During the journey through the Fen, Brogmar purchased a set of brass dragonscale mail from the Peddler and entrusted him with the heart of a slain Ancient Gully-maw for refinement.
After the expedition to the Temple in the Fen, Brogmar returned to find Lithen dead and Jolene transformed into a bat-like creature. Overcome with grief, he refused to fight while his companions banished the creature. He buried Lithen beside a tree north of Marterus where they had played as children, then addressed the gathered mourners and called for opposition to Polin Garten's influence over the city.
