Aegebras Banniatear is an elderly elven rare-book seller and the keeper of the hidden Banniatear Library in Marterus. With his daughter Merelle, he maintains a public bookshop and a considerably less public archive containing some of the surviving histories of Ithak'var, the demon known as the Crooked Man.

The Hidden Library
In 1487 DR, Brogmar Mossbeard and Panda (Sean Gardner) came to Banniatear while investigating the Crooked Man and the root tattoos worn by the demon's followers. Convinced that their concern was genuine, Aegebras led them through a courtyard, opened a magically concealed door, and took them down to the private collection.
There he identified the Crooked Man as Ithak'var, the Shepherd of Countless Faces. He recounted the demon's enslavement of its summoners, its defeat by six ancient heroes, and the prophecy of the Mirrorwind. His visible fear while discussing the texts has been treated as a concise review of their contents [citation needed].
