Jolene Dennison

Jolene Dennison (née Frager) is a dwarven homemaker of Marterus and the mother of Harry and Lithen Dennison. Once part of a wealthy merchant household, she was later found bedridden in a single-room home in the Cloudcombe under an unidentified affliction. She subsequently became a bat-like creature and was banished from Lyra, making the word "recovered" difficult to apply.

Affliction

When Harry returned to Marterus as the druid Brogmar Mossbeard, Lithen took him and the Heroes of Eastport to the family home. Jolene lay motionless on its only bed, old, weak and particularly afflicted in one leg. The party investigated but could not identify the disease.

King Edor Bren later agreed to shelter Jolene and Lithen at Ulfhold. By the time the party returned from the Temple in the Fen, both women had left the castle for the Cloudcombe.

Before that return, the Shadow Harlequin beneath the temple displayed Jolene's face on one of its stalks. The meaning of the likeness and its relationship to her later transformation are unknown.

Transformation and Banishment

The party found Lithen dead in the home and Jolene absent. A large bat-like creature attacked them there and was recognised as what Jolene had become. Skaf from Yonder banished the creature to the plane from which it came. The nature of the transformation, the plane involved, and Jolene's present condition remain unknown.
