The Kestrel Crash was the crash of the luxury passenger airship The Kestrel into the sea off Farmarch in 1487 DR. The adventuring party found themselves on a beach near Eastport and are the only known survivors. The incident stranded the travellers who became the Heroes of Eastport and supplied the village with most of its subsequent emergency labour.

Flight and Failure
The Kestrel left Port Starvryn under Captain Volari, carrying passengers bound for Marterus in response to King Edor Bren's call for adventurers. During the flight, Brogmar Mossbeard shared mind-expanding mushrooms with several future companions. The resulting fellowship survived the airship more successfully than the engines did.
Near Farmarch, the vessel suffered catastrophic engine failure and crashed into the sea. The passenger Groff and his suspicious companion fled before impact, but their subsequent fate is unknown. There is no confirmed account of any passenger or crew member surviving apart from the adventuring party.
Aftermath
The party found themselves on a beach following the crash. They were met by Mayor Duncan Wells and Captain Ikugo Havenwild. With no immediate onward transport, they lodged at The Spotless Apple and became involved in the town's warehouse, lighthouse and vegetable-related emergencies. The fate of Captain Volari, Tadrys and the other passengers and crew remains unknown.
