Balmar Omadi is the Mayor of Brae, a forested town on the island of Farmarch. His administration relies on the Foundry Men, a company of rangers, to keep the peace in the town and its surrounding woods — an arrangement adequate to ordinary years and severely tested by 1487 DR.
Omadi's governance of Brae is regarded as steady if unspectacular, in the tradition of Farmarch mayors who prefer their towns uneventful. Like his Eastport counterpart Duncan Wells, Omadi proved willing to accept the assistance of visiting adventurers when events exceeded the Foundry Men's remit, a policy historians of the island have begun calling "the Farmarch method" [citation needed].
Omadi's term absorbed three calamities in quick succession: the Gorsuine raid that carried off many of Brae's villagers, the exposure of the trinket merchant Ethor Kelanna as a necromancer conducting flesh-golem experiments beneath his shop, and the Cownado that ended him. The mayor's office has since classified all three under a single file [citation needed].
