Muffin (Jake Marshall) is a massive goliath warrior and former core vanguard of The Heroes of Eastport. Standing as a giant of a man in his mid-20s, Muffin wears heavy, battle-worn dark plate armor and carries a giant trident strapped to his back, though his intimidating physical stature is contrasted by his gentle eyes and a goofy, perpetually excited expression. He has since retired from adventuring and now lives in Marterus, where he runs a woodworking shop with his partner Kaia.
Personal Identity
Muffin was raised alongside the dwarf cleric Panda and genuinely believes himself to be a dwarf and Panda’s biological brother. He is rarely seen without his favorite food bowl nearby and is known for his intense loyalty, simple outlook, and immense physical strength.
The Abduction of Marta
During the voyage across the Kalani Strait on The Stubborn Arse, Muffin formed a deep romantic connection with the dwarf crew member Marta. Following a celebratory Frostfeast, Marta was abducted by a flying shadow, leaving Muffin completely heartbroken. In his grief, Muffin was approached by the gaunt phantom of The Crooked Man, who delivered a chilling curse: "Your heart will crumble, your dreams will turn to ash."
Retirement
During the party's stay in Marterus, Muffin announced his retirement from adventuring, delivering a tear-jerking farewell speech to his companions outside the royal palace [citation needed]. Having found new love with a woman named Kaia, he chose to settle down in the city rather than continue on to Greygate with the rest of the party.
Together, Muffin and Kaia opened a woodworking shop called The Knotty Carver, which specializes in hand-carved bowls — a trade widely regarded as fitting for a man who was rarely seen without his favorite food bowl. Despite his departure, he remains an honorary member of The Heroes of Eastport in the hearts of his former companions [citation needed].
