Klep (occasionally recorded as Klepp) is a young mimic discovered in the Tomb of Tel'Amyr on the island of Farmarch and adopted as a travelling companion by the Heroes of Eastport. Unusual among mimics for preferring company to ambush, Klep is noted for an eager, ongoing effort to learn new forms, with mixed but improving results.
Klep was found by the party during their exploration of the Tomb of Tel'Amyr, a hidden ruin in the forests near Eastport whose murals and paintings appeared to reflect their viewers. Rather than devouring the intruders in the traditional manner of his species, the young mimic took a liking to them and left the tomb in their care.
Klep travels with the Heroes of Eastport as a pet and mascot, and has become the subject of a sustained shapeshifting curriculum. A documented training session conducted by the druid Brogmar Mossbeard and the cleric Panda (Sean Gardner) attempted to teach Klep to assume the form of a goat; the result was described as "not entirely successful, but the little fellow has spirit" [citation needed]. A later attempt to persuade Klep to become a horse, made for logistical reasons on the road to Greygate, was likewise unsuccessful but received points for ambition.
As a mimic, Klep can reshape his body to imitate objects, defaulting in moments of stress to the traditional chest. Observers note that his imitations are improving, and that visitors to the party's camp are advised to be polite to all furniture as a precaution.
