Osgold (recorded in some accounts as Old Osgald) is an elderly resident of the town of Brae best known for his possession of a magical hole. Regarded by travellers as one of the wonders of the world and by his neighbors as a fixture of the town, Osgold has become a minor attraction for the sort of visitor who hears the words "magical hole" and walks toward them.

Osgold's strange hole

The hole in Osgold's keeping opens as a strange blue portal whose destination, mechanism, and purpose are all undocumented. When demonstrated to the Heroes of Eastport during their 1487 DR visit to Brae, the party gathered around it in awe and trepidation while the druid Brogmar Mossbeard beat a steady rhythm on his drum to focus their minds — a precaution the group applied to the hole and the hole did not reciprocate [citation needed].

Character

Accounts describe Osgold as a strange but agreeable fellow, entirely at ease with his role as custodian of an unexplained aperture. Asked where the hole leads, Osgold is said to answer variously, and never the same way twice [citation needed].
